What is
Beer?
Beer is
an alcoholic
beverage
made from
malted
grains,
hops, yeast,
and water.
The grain is
usually
barley or
wheat, but
sometimes
corn and
rice are
used as
well. Fruit,
herbs, and
spices may
also be used
for special
styles.
Is
it legal in
the United
States?
In
November
1978,
Congress
passed a
bill that
repealed
federal
restrictions
on the home
brewing of
beer.
In 1979
President
Carter
signed the
bill into
law.
As long as
you are and
adult
twenty-one
(21) years
or older you
are
permitted to
brew
"not
more then
one hundred
(100)
gallons of
beer in a
year"
according to
the US
Federal
Government.
If there are
two adults,
you may brew
up to two
hundred
(200)
gallons of
beer in a
year. It
is illegal
to sell your
beer.
